Enjoy Adult Orthodontics With Invisalign Treatment

Adult men and women who have considered straightening crooked teeth and realigning their bite may hesitate to bring this up to their dental provider for fear or being told that traditional braces are required. However, instead of covering the smile with metal bracket and wire braces, the dental team at South Knox Dental may recommend an alternative option known as invisible aligners. Teeth straightening is easy with our option for clear braces for adults and teens known as Invisalign.

The science behind Invisalign

The primary difference between conventional braces and clear aligner treatment such as Invisalign is that the aligners do not use brackets and wires to realign crooked teeth. Instead, Invisalign treatment compiles a series of clear plastic trays that are worn for two weeks at a time as patients progress through their journey to a straighter smile. This gradual shift of the teeth is predetermined using 3D impressions of the patient’s teeth and specialized software that designs the final smile and creates the series of customized trays. Most patients who are realigning their smile with Invisalign will find that they can guide their teeth into better alignment with continued use of their aligner trays over the course of about a year. Noncompliance can derail the results, so it is important for patients to wear their trays at least 20 hours a day to reach optimum improvement.

What are the benefits of Invisalign clear aligner trays?

There are several reasons why patients choose Invisalign. Some benefits include:

  • Discreet treatment
  • Improved comfort
  • More convenience
  • Better oral health
  • Easy use
  • Simple to clean and handle
