About Dr. Foncea

Dr. Foncea loves what he does. For over twenty years, he has enjoyed the problem-solving, clinical practice, and cosmetic artistry of dentistry. Finding solutions, especially for patients who have been unable to find solutions before, is one of his favorite parts of each day, as well as teaching other members of his team what he has learned. When he’s not in the office, he loves camping, biking, hiking, and everything that involves a board: surfboards, skateboards, and snowboards. He and his wife, Julie, raised their kids, Jacob and Janie, here, and have called Knoxville home for 21 years.

He received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) from Boston University, Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 1997. He has taken extensive advanced training courses in cosmetic, reconstructive, and implant dentistry. His first full mouth reconstruction started in 2003; he began implant placements in 2005, and his first Invisalign case was in 2009. He has been featured on WBIR and WATE 8 over the past 16 years as their featured dentist regarding dental health topics. His favorite candy is Snickers.
